The whole process was easy, and the company extremely responsive to my individual needs. I made a series of impressions, chose the best, and they reviewed them visually, I felt like I had my own personal sales/tech assistant during the process. The result were extremely comfortable and high-performing earplugs.
Since I end up standing right next to the drummer, I opted to only use one for my working band gigs, and then I just used a brute-force, crappy, "kill all noise" cheap earplug on my drummer-side ear.
Note that custom earplugs don't kill as much sound as cheapos, that's not the point. It lowers the volume equally along the whole frequency spectrum. If you're just looking to kill the noise, and don't care how it sounds, non-custom-fit ones will work fine. Using a custom-fit earplug on my monitor side meant that I could hear myself so much better, and could actually turn my monitor down, to the delight of my bandmates.
